Final energy consumption is the total energy consumed by end users, such as households, industry and agriculture. It is the energy which reaches the final consumer's door and excludes that which is used by the energy sector itself.

As of the update in March 2021, this table has been revised. This is due to a transition to new dissemination codes for energy products at Eurostat. These new codes were created based on the Standard International Energy Product Classification present in the International Recommendations for Energy Statistics and adapted by Eurostat in the framework of the Standard Code Lists initiative.

Final energy consumption in households covers quantities consumed by private households.

Fisheries sector

Covers quantities consumed in inland, coastal and deep-sea fishing.

Agricultural sector

Includes users classified as agriculture, hunting and forestry.

Service sector and other sectors

Final energy consumption in services covers quantities consumed by commerce, public administration and other sectors not mentioned elsewhere.

Non-specified sector

Reports activities not included elsewhere.
